How it works
1. Call, text, email or facebook message me to make an appointment.
2. I will arrive at your home or accommodation 10-15 minutes before the start time to set up and we’ll have a chat where I’ll ask you what kind of massage you would like, if you prefer a light, medium or deep pressure, if you have any health conditions or injuries, etc. Then it’s time to jump on the table and relax.
If you book a 1 hour massage you will get the full 60 minutes on the table. Consultation and assessments do not cut in to your table time!
Swedish (Relaxation) Massage
Swedish massage which is also known as relaxation massage, uses a range of strokes applying light to medium pressure. The strokes are performed at a slower pace. One of the primary goals of Swedish massage is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is particularly beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscular tension, improving circulation and flexibility, reducing stress and improving muscle recovery time.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to access deeper layers of muscle, tendons, ligaments and fascia. It is especially helpful for treating chronic aches and pains and tight areas such as stiff necks and upper and lower back pain. Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension, removing muscular knots, reducing localised pain and treating muscle injuries.
Deep tissue massage can be uncomfortable at times, your pain tolerance levels will be respected and your massage and I will communicate with you throughout the massage to ensure you are receiving a level of pressure that is comfortable for you.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are painful spots within muscle tissue, ligaments, tendons and fascia that radiate pain to other areas of the body. For example, you may have an active trigger point located in your shoulder which could cause you to experience referred pain in your back, neck or head.
Trigger point therapy massage mostly consists of rubbing and pressing on trigger points. Once a trigger point is located, direct pressure is applied to reduce or eventually stop the pain.
In trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.
Sports Massage (Post)
Sports massage (post event) is very similar to Swedish massage. It involves applying long soothing strokes with a light to medium pressure. The aim of this type of massage is to promote muscle recovery after exercise. Some light passive stretching of leg and arm muscles may be performed on the table. Deep tissue Sports Massage for athletic maintenance is another form of Sports Massage that helps reduce injury and keep niggles at bay.
